The notification is provided based on the current location of the Citrix Workspace app that runs on the endpoint, instead of the Microsoft Teams client that runs on the VDA.

To enable dynamic emergency calling, the administrator must use the Microsoft Teams Admin Center and configure the following to create a network or emergency location map:.

When users start an optimized call using the Microsoft Teams client for the first time, they might notice a warning with the Windows firewall settings. The warning asks for users to allow communication for HdxTeams. You can apply more restrictive rules if you want. You can deploy Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business side by side as two separate solutions with overlapping capabilities.

For more information, see Understand Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business coexistence and interoperability. Examples include island modes and Skype for Business with Microsoft Teams collaboration. Also, Skype for Business with Microsoft Teams collaboration and meetings.

Peripheral access can be granted only to a single application at the time. For example, webcam access by the RealTime Media Engine during a call locks the imaging device during a call.

When the device is released, it becomes available for Microsoft Teams. Optimal audio and video quality require a network connection to the Microsoft cloud that has low latency, low jitter, and low packet loss. Backhauling of Microsoft Teams audio-video RTP traffic from Citrix Workspace app users at branch office locations to a data center before going to the internet can add excessive latency.

It might also cause congestion on WAN links. This use is to identify, categorize, and steer Microsoft Teams traffic. Business broadband internet connections in many areas suffer from intermittent packet loss, periods of excessive jitter, and outages.

You can use multiple meetings or chat windows for Microsoft Teams in Windows. This feature is supported with Citrix Workspace app for Windows Microsoft Teams supports Gallery , Large gallery , and Together mode layouts.

Microsoft Teams displays a 2×2 grid with video streams of four participants known as Gallery. In this case, Microsoft Teams sends four video streams to the client device for decoding.

When more than four participants share video, only the last four most active speakers appear on the screen. Microsoft Teams also provides the large gallery view with a grid up to 7×7.

As a result, the Microsoft Teams conference server composites a single video feed and sends it to the client device for decoding, resulting in lower CPU consumption. Lastly, Microsoft Teams supports Together mode , which is part of the new meeting experience. Using AI segmentation technology to digitally place participants in a shared background, Microsoft Teams puts all participants in the same auditorium. The user can control these modes during a conference call by selecting Gallery , Large gallery , or Together mode layouts in the ellipses menu.

Microsoft Teams relies on video-based screen sharing VBSS , effectively encoding the desktop being shared with video codecs like H and creating a high-definition stream. With HDX optimization, incoming screen sharing is treated as a video stream.

Starting from Citrix Workspace app or higher for Windows, Linux or Mac, users can share their screens and video camera simultaneously. Instead, the screen sharing video feed shows. The peer must then manually resume the camera sharing. In that case, other peers can still see your webcam and content and navigate back and forth to review other slides. In this scenario, the slides are rendered on the VDA. Outgoing screen sharing is also optimized and offloaded to Citrix Workspace app.

Set specific permission in Citrix Workspace app for Mac to enable screen sharing. For more information, see System Requirements. Citrix Workspace app minimum version is required. Starting with Citrix Workspace app for Windows To share a specific app:. Compatibility with app protection The screen sharing of a specific app is compatible with the app protection feature in HDX optimized Microsoft Teams.

You can only select the Window option to share any open app. This feature is supported in the following versions of Citrix Workspace app there is no dependency on the VDA version or Operative System, single session or multisession :. You can request control during a Microsoft Teams call when a participant is sharing the screen. Once you have control, you can make selections, edits, or other keyboard and mouse activities to the shared screen.

To take control when a screen is being shared, click Request control button in the Microsoft Teams UI. While you have control, you can make selections, edits, and other modifications to the shared screen.

For these actions, you can use both keyboard and mouse. Give and Request control are not available if the user is sharing a single app also known as App sharing. The full desktop or monitor must be shared. When optimization for Microsoft Teams is active, the Citrix Workspace app accesses the peripherals headsets, microphones, cameras, speakers, and so forth. Microsoft Teams does not access the devices directly.

Instead, it relies on the Workspace app WebRTC media engine for acquiring, capturing, and processing the media. Microsoft Teams lists the devices for the user to select. After the peripheral is selected, Microsoft Teams caches the information of the peripherals. As a result, the peripherals are automatically selected when you reconnect to a session from the same endpoint. Workspace app Mar 27 The legacy HDX technologies might be webcam redirection and client audio and microphone redirection.

In fallback mode, the peripherals are mapped to the VDA. The peripherals appear to the Microsoft Teams app as if they were locally attached to the virtual desktop. You can now granularly control the fallback mechanism by setting the registry keys in the VDA. For information, see Microsoft Teams fallback mode in the list of features managed through the registry. The webcam name has the Citrix HDX suffix as shown in the following graphic. The speaker and microphone device names might be slightly different or truncated when compared to the optimized mode.

Instead, HDX technologies use server-side rendering. Real-time audio performance might not be optimal. Displays a 2×2 grid with video streams of four participants. Only the last four most active speakers appear on the screen and other participants do not appear on the grid. A central conference server mixes and transcodes all audio or video to create a tailored composite layout for every participant. This action introduces some additional latency. A single quality video stream. You can set the encoding resolution value on the client. For more information, see Encoder performance estimator and Optimization for Microsoft Teams.

Quality is defined as resolution and frames per second. Each participant gets up to four individual media streams. Each participant gets only a single stream for audio and video. This setting lowers the CPU consumption at the endpoint. When four participants are sharing video, the maximum resolution is p per video feed.

If fewer than four participants are sharing video, the resolution per video feed might be higher. Because of this condition, each sender reduces resolution or upload bitrate.

Make sure you have the latest version installed. Make sure the Webrtc service is up and running. I have seen AVD where this service has been disabled by security policies. It needs to be running for the Teams optimization to work. If Teams media optimization has been activated after a user logon to the AVD. If using profile management you should include and exclude these path: To redirect audio and video devices correctly you also need to add three RDP client properties.

This can be done both on computer level or for specific users by the following regkeys: 0 — Fallback mode is enabled Default when missing 1 — Disable fallback mode 2 — Enable audio only Limitations In the current release of Teams for AVD there are some limitations.

If configured correctly and you have rebooted the host….. To check if you have configured correctly, click on your Profile icon, then About , and finally Version. This will then show the required information. To speed up the process of preparing and deploying teams on Windows Virtual Desktop. I have written a tool that completes all the pre-requests, downloads the installers and installs all the required components. All you need to do is ensure you run the application as a admin and you remember to reboot once the install has completed.

Also see my other blog post that automates the full teams process using a Custom Script Extension. What do you think about using redirection to lower the size of profiles? Another person recommends something like this in a file then redirect via GPO call to the file.

The concept of a profile stored in a virtual disk, is to facilitate the ability to detach the user profile data from the underlining OS.

In most cases, yes. This enables the flexibility of this data roaming with the user in the format of a mountable vDisk. Yes redirecting reduces the profile size, but for what reason?

Moving the data to the local profile local disk. What would be the impact….. Reduction of disk space on the OS local disk possibly performance issues?

Meaning the data stored locally is temporary as long as you have configured the XML file correctly. Design and sizing of the local disk is important, as well as understanding what would be beneficial for redirection. When you look at the significate reduction in profile size by redirecting teams to a temporary local profile.

This should be tested as there may be user experience changes due to the teams data being temporary. I Ryan, in your opinion, this configuration could be used with classic RDP as well? We have people at home connected to their pc in the office. But when a call is made via a PSTN line, the call is received in Teams remoteapp but when answered, there is no call media as in no voice is heard.

Configuring Microsoft Teams for Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) – Ryan Mangan’s IT Blog – Prerequisites

The Remote Desktop client runs on a laptop connected to two monitors. Within the WVD when we try to share one desktop with Teams, we can’t.

We don’t have the option to do this. As a result both screens are shared at the same time and the people can’t really see what we want to share as it’s too small with both screen shared. Was this reply helpful?

Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. The default behaviour without setting any policies is that users are able to share their screen. The problem is that as the Remote Desktop client is set to use both screens, when they need to share content, both screen are shared and they can’t choose to share only one. After setting up a policy, the user still can’t choose which screen to share in Teams on the WVD.

Is there a solution for this yet? I have end user’s that are having this exact issue. I don’t think setting the policy in Teams management portal will make a difference. Content sharing just controls permissions from what it looks like. And the Display configuration basically tells the RDP client software where to throw the display. Nevertheless, they might work on this in a future release of the product. For now, we have to set the settings with «single display» and work from there.

Dom Annicette. Appreciate the response and feedback. I completely forgot to come back to this post! I was looking around again today after one month, and saw that I posted something, and you actually responded.

Thanks for that. The only thing I have gotten so far is a work around, since there is no solution according to what you are telling me and what MS is telling you. When you maximize to all of your displays, the rdp client spans across all of the displays. If you then share your screen from Teams, it will share all of the displays, as we know hence the reason for this post. Now, if you exit out of maximized mode, it will then auto rescale the screen share in Teams to only the single display.

So if someone is presenting, they can use this as a workaround, but will have to only use the app on the single display for the time being. By the way This is a complete nightmare for me. I just don’t get it. Hello Phoeunix1 ,.

Thanks for coming back to me. My end -users actually use this work-around to get their Teams shared. And to answer you question, I don’t have any mac users so far. So I can’t really help you on this one. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Yes, after making the changes this will be possible. I’ll be available if necessary, ok. I’ll be available if necessary, ok Hi, After setting up a policy, the user still can’t choose which screen to share in Teams on the WVD. Do I have to change the «Screen sharing mode»? Yes, you can change the screen sharing mode. If it is still not possible please contact us again. So where is the control settings for sharing the desktop from within Teams? In reply to Phoeunix1’s post on May 11, Hi, I talked to Microsoft Support and there is no way to make it work as we would like to.

It’s by design. In reply to Dom Annicette’s post on May 12, Dom Annicette Appreciate the response and feedback. Here is how I have my RDP properties configured, which will give somewhat of a workaround. Here is the scenario I noticed today when testing this: When you maximize to all of your displays, the rdp client spans across all of the displays.

Hope that makes sense and helps you out. In reply to Phoeunix1’s post on June 23, Hello Phoeunix1 , Thanks for coming back to me. Have a great day and take care! This site in other languages x.
